Tatts Ireland releases September catalogue

TATTERSALLS Ireland has catalogued 542 lots for its September Yearling Sale on September 20 - 21.

The catalogue is only eight lots smaller than last year's renewal, at which 422 of 510 offered were sold (83%) for a total of €4,324,450 and the average rose marginally to €10,248. Proceedings were topped by a daughter of Choisir from Norman Ormiston, who sold to Nick Shutts for €70,000.

The 2011 catalogue kicks off with a Lawman colt half-brother to Irish 1,000 Guineas third La Nuit Rose who is out of Prix de Diane winner Caerlina.

Other stand-out lots on paper include a Pivotal colt out of high-class two-year-old Dazzle (46); an Iffraaj filly out of Heinz 57 Phoenix Stakes Eva Luna (75); a Rock Of Gibraltar half-brother to Group 1-winning sprinter Soldier's Tale (254); a Refuse To Bend colt out of 1,000 Guineas runner-up Oh Nellie (267); a Holy Roman Emperor filly out of German Group 2 winner Uriah (442); an Acclamation colt out of Irish Oaks heroine Vintage Tipple (449); and an Antonius Pius half-brother to recent Grade 1 American Oaks winner Cambina.

Sale graduates continue to advertise the auction to good effect on the track led by Xtension and Lucky Nine, who finished first and second in the Group 1 Champions Mile in Hong Kong, and Summer Mile hero Dick Turpin.
