Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-up: as it happens

4.15pm: Another Invincible Spirit colt (114) heads Richard O'Gorman's way after the agent, who regularly consigns on behalf of Darley, outbids Norman Steel, an owner with Richard Fahey, at 100,000gns.

The Powerstown Stud-consigned youngster provided a nice return on the €46,000 he cost last year.

"He's another nice horse by the same sire and there's no reason why he won't be a good two-year-old," said O'Gorman.

3.40pm: Two weeks ago at the Tattersalls Craven Sale, John Hassett Jr sold a Singspiel colt for 110,000gns that had cost just 8,000gns the autumn before. Although Hassett bought the colt asa yearling, his original vendors decided to retain ownership with the proviso that Hassett prepared him for a breeze-up.

Today, the margin of profit was not so great but the elements were the same with Hassett selling a Singspiel filly for 30,000gns on behalf of his wife. Stephen Hillen signed for the granddaughter of champion two-year-old Negligent, who had cost just 3,000gns during Book 2 of last year's Tattersalls October Sale.

"The key with me is to buy these Singspiels and then give them away," joked Hassett earlier today. "Then they do really well!

"I bought this filly last October when I hadn't seen my wife for about a month. So I thought when I got home I'd give her apresent - a horse!"
