Maybe's dam heads Tatts December catalogue

SUMORA, the dam of this season's champion two-year-old filly elect Maybe, promises to be one of the highlights of thisyear's Tattersalls December Sale on November 28 to December 1.

With 1,083 entries, Tattersalls have catalogued only 14 fewer horses than in 2010 for the four day auction, which can be viewed online. Of the 888 horses offered last year, 644 changed hands for a total of 34,544,800gns and average of 53,641gns.

Listed winner Sumora will be sold by Denis Brosnan's Croom House Stud, which purchased the mare for $500,000 at the 2007 Keeneland November Sale and bred Maybe.

The nine-year-old daughter of Danehill, who is a half-sister to Oaks heroine Dancing Rain, is one of 13 Group 1-producing mares entered and heads a sextet of mares catalogued in foal to Maybe's sire Galileo. Others include Rock Salt and Native Force, the dams of Group 1 winners Termagant and Kingsgate Native.

"It's an impressive catalogue containing some outstanding fillies in training, world-class Group-producing mares," Jimmy George, marketing director of Tattersalls, told the Racing Post on Wednesday. "There is plenty to catch the eye of leading breeders throughout the world."

Heading Highclere Stud's draft is Mrs Marsh, the dam of Canford Cliffs, while Trickledown Stud will send through Honorine, the dam of Treasure Beach. Another mare with Classic connections is Reve d'Iman, the dam of Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Bethrah.

Last year's 1,000 Guineas first past the post, Jacqueline Quest, is one of a number ofhigh-class fillies entered alongside Group 2 winners Bewitched, Lolly For Dolly, Memory, Sea Of Heartbreak and Testosterone. The latter ran second to Galikova in the Prix Vermeille earlier this month.

Prix de l'Abbaye winner Total Gallery and Derby runner-up Tartan Bearer are among the colts on offer.
