Tapit colt headlines Keeneland session

A colt foal by leading US freshman sire Tapit topped the Monday 10 November session of the Keeneland November breedingstock sale when purchased by agent Ben Glass for $250,000.

Consigned by Elm Tree Farms, the colt is a half-brother to the Grade 3-placed Lyin' Heart from the family of multiple Grade 2 winner Punch Line.

The second-highest priced lot of the day was a Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services-consigned Borrego colt foal out of the stakes-placed mare Wishful Legacy. He was bought by Blue Sky Stables for $175,000.

Figures for the session showed across-the-board declines on those of last year. Total receipts were down 50.5 per cent from $11,270,200 to $5,579,600, the average price was down 37.1 per cent from $46,189 to $29,060, while the median price shrunk by 38.9 per cent from $36,000 to $22,000.
