Swiss Diva: the daughter of Pivotal flourished in France last year

Lordship star sprinter Swiss Diva retired

SWISS DIVA, bred and owned by Lordship Stud and trained by David Elsworth, has been retired due to a fetlock injury following her last race in this month's Nunthorpe Stakes.

In the Nunthorpe, Swiss Diva was tenth, but beaten only just over five lengths, behind the winner Margot Did.

Swiss Diva was able to race only twice this season because of her need for soft ground. She won six races from 20 starts including a hat-trick of victories in France - the Listed Prix du Cercle and two Group 3s: the Prix De Meautry and the Prix Du Petit Couvert.

She was retained in training thisyear with the aim of trying to win a Group 2 or Group 1 and was unlucky in not having enough opportunities to try to achieve this.

Swiss Diva, a daughter of Pivotal, will be an exciting addition to Lordship Stud's band of broodmares.

Her dam, Swiss Lake, has been a brilliant producer for the stud in recent seasons. Swiss Lake has also produced Coventry Stakes runner-up Swiss Franc, Swiss Dream, winner of the Listed Hopeful Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday, and winners Swiss Cross and Swiss Spirit.
