Second Derby success for breeders WinStar Farm

SUPER SAVER's Kentucky Derby success marked a second scalp in the race for his  breeders WinStar Farm and his late sire Maria's Mon.

Winstar, who also race the colt, struck in 2003 with Funny Cide, while Maria's Mon scored with Monarchos in 2001. At the time of his death in 2007 Maria's Mon was covering at Pin Oak Studin Kentucky for a free of $60,000.

Super Saver, who was withdrawn from last year's Keeneland April Sales of Two-Year-Olds, is out of the AP Indy mare Supercharger, who comes from a line closely linked to the Phipps family. Her dam, the Mr Prospector mare Get Lucky, is a full-sister to their Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Rhythm, himself out of their  Grade 1 winner Dance Number.
