Arkansas Derby winner Line Of David to stud

ARKANSAS Derby winner Line Of David has been retired from racing and purchased by B Wayne Hughes, who plans to stand the three-year-old at his Spendthrift Farm near Lexington.

In the Arkansas Derby, Line Of David made all the running to beat subsequent Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, and the Grade 1 winner Dublin.

Owned by Ike and Dawn Thrash and trained by John Sadler, Line Of David retired from racing with three wins from seven starts and earnings of $662,000. He finished 18 in a field of 20 in the Kentucky Derby, his final start.

Bred in Florida by Sabine Stable, Line of David is by Lion Heart out of the winning Capote mare Emma's Dilemma and is a half-brother to stakes-placed McVictory. Line of David's third dam, Lillian Russell, is a half-sister to Mr Prospector.

Line of David, whose fee has yet to be announced, is expected to arrive at Spendthrift this week.
