Peer Gynt joins French stallion ranks

PEER GYNT, a Group 1-placed runner in Japan, has been bought to stand at the Haras de la Haie Neuve.

He joins a burgeoning band of sons of Sunday Silence at stud in France, which includes Layman, Agnes Kamikaze, Millennium Bio, Great Journey, Samson Happy and Rosen Kavalier.

Out of the Devil's Bride mare Twinkle Bride, who finished second in the Japanese 1,000 Guineas, Peer Gynt put up a career best effort at the age of five to finish runner-up to Suzuka Phoenix in the Grade 1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen over 6f.

Peer Gynt will take the place of Robin Des Pres, who was sold by the farm to Anngrove Stud earlier this month. Other stallions on the Haie Neuve roster are Della Francesca, Russian Blue, Hurricane Cat and Until Sundown.

The purchase of Peer Gynt was completed in association with Emmanuel de Seroux of Narvick France. The horse will stand his first season at stud at a fee of €3,000.
