Successful debut
for Zenyatta half-sister

EBLOUISSANTE, a three-year-old half-sister to the mighty Zenyatta, made a stunning start to her racing career on Friday when landing her career debut, a 1 1/16 mile maiden at Betfair Hollywood Park.

Saddled by Zenyatta's trainer John Shirreffs on behalf of owner-breeder Eric Kronfeld, Eblouissante started the 7-5 favourite in a field of eight. After racing in midfield, the blinkered filly made a big move on the far turn to take the lead from Saturday Nite Ride and draw off for a four-and-a-quarter length win under Corey Nakatani.

By Bernardini, Eblouissante is the sixth foal and fourth winner out of the winning Kris S mare Vertigineux. Three of those winners are stakes winners led by the legendary Zenyatta, a daughter of Street Cry who was steered throughout her racing career by Shirreffs to win 19 of 20 starts including the 2009 Breeders' Cup Classic. Like Eblouissante, Zenyatta made a similarly notable but late start to her career when successful on her debut at Hollywood Park in November of her three-year-old year.

Vertigineux is also the dam of triple Grade 1 heroine Balance (by Thunder Gulch) and Listed winner Where's Bailey (by Aljabr).

Vertigineux, who is a half-sister to French Listed winners Blash and Restrained, has two-year-old filly by Henrythenavigator. Now under Coolmore ownership, she also has a yearling filly by Henrythenavigator, who sold for $1.5 million to Adena Springs at last year's Keeneland November Sale, and is in foal to Street Cry.
