Successful Appeal to shuttle to Argentina

WALMAC FARM in Kentucky has leased its stallion Successful Appeal to Ricardo Benedicto's Haras La Pasion, Argentina’s leading owner for the last four years.

The 16-year-old son of Valid Appeal will shuttle to Argentina for the 2012 southern hemisphere breeding season and will be bred to a limited book of mares.

Walmac Farm managing director John T L Jones III said: "We have long been associated with Haras La Pasion through their managing director Nico Benedicto, who worked previously at Walmac. Haras La Pasion is the breeder of Successful Appeal’s 2012 Group 2 winner Galan de Cine, runner up in the Group 1 Gran Premio de Honor."

Jones added: "We are very excited about the interest they have received from breeders for the upcoming season and they're a leader in Argentina with a great programme."

Successful Appeal was North America's champion freshman sire of 2004 and his first crop yielded Kentucky Derby runner up Closing Argument.

He is also the sire of Grade 1 winner J P’s Gusto as well as Grade 1 performer Successful Dan. In total he has supplied 15 Group/Graded stakes winners and the earners of over $26 million.
