Successful Appeal colt heads F-T Texas Sale

A SON of Walmac Farm stallion Successful Appeal topped the Fasig-Tipton Texas Summer Yearling Sale on Monday when selling for $57,000 to Brad Grady.

The Louisiana-bred was consigned by Mark Toothaker and a half-brother to four winners. He is out of Excellent Review, an unraced Mr Greeley sister to the dam of Kentucky Derby runner-up Closing Argument, also by Successful Appeal.

Although the average fell four per cent to $10,177, the median improved from 2010, rising 20 per cent to $6,000. All told, 113 - 63 per cent offered - yearlings were sold for a total of $1,150,000.

Grady also purchased the highest-priced filly of the sale, a $50,000 daughter of fellow Walmac sire Songandaprayer. Consigned by Inside Move Inc., she is out of the Saint Ballado mare Ballagren and a half-sister to the stakes-placed Ide Ball.
