Listed winner True Cause sold to Argentina

LISTED winner and dual Grade 2-stakes placed True Cause, who entered his first season at stud at Key Ranch in Texas during the 2009 Northern Hemisphere season, has been partially purchased by Argentine breeders and will remain in Argentina after shuttling there for the current Southern Hemisphere season.

The six-year-old son of Storm Cat will stand at Haras Rancho Lujan.

True Cause earned $211,960 over four seasons and recorded three victories from 17 starts, including the 2005 Stardom Stakes at Goodwood on his second start at two. He also finished runner-up in both the 2007 Red Smith Handicap (Gr2) at Aqueduct and the Mac Diarmida Handicap (Gr2)  at Gulfstream Park last year.

Bred in Kentucky by Darley, True Cause is out of the Group 3-winning Rahy mare Dearly, who is a half sister to Darley's homebred Grade 1 winner Balletto, the first United Arab Emirates-bred horse to win a Grade 1 race in North America.

His second dam Destiny Place, a Graded stakes winner and a Graded stakes producer, is a half-sister to 2001 United Arab Emirates Horse of the Year Festival Of Light and to Grade 1 winner and successful Claiborne stallion Arch.
