First Stonewall horses under the hammer

THE first draft of horses owned by the beleaguered Stonewall Stallions is set to go under the hammer today at the OBS June Salein Ocala, Florida.

The Kentucky-based operation entered 25 two-year-olds as supplementary lots through Leprechaun Racing's consignment last month after Fifth Third Band announced they were launching legal action against the Audrey Haisfield-owned farm and related entities for failure to repay $14.8 million in loans.
Included in the draft are a Leroidesanimaux filly out of Italian Group 3 winner Miss Nashwan and a Medaglia d'Oro filly out of Grade 1 CCA Oaks heroine Jostle.

On May 26, 134 horses under full or part Stonewall ownership were placed under receivership by order of a Fayette Kentucky Circuit Judge. Bluewater Sales was appointed as receiver.

A total of 386 juveniles have been catalogued to the one-day sale which last year saw 284 horses sell for a total of $4,696,300. The aggregate dropped 40 per cent while the $15,903 average represented a fall of 26 per cent.
