Starspangledbanner's Australian stud fee set

AUSTRALIAN dual Group -winning three-year-old Starspangledbanner has had his fee set for when he joins his sire Choisir on the Coolmore Australia roster later this year.

Starspangledbanner, currently in training at Ballydoyle in preparation for a crack at Europe's best sprint races this summer, will stand at a fee of A$33,000 (£20,090, €23,090).

Coolmore Australia general manager Michael Kirwan said: "The response to the horse has been fantastic. He is a fabulous looking individual which obviously is a huge part of his appeal.

"We all know what a great racehorse he is and he has Group 1 winners right the way through his pedigree, but a physical appraisal of the horse identifies him as a supreme athlete."

Starspangledbanner won the Caulfield Guineas over 1m in October and the Oakleigh Plate over 6f in February.

He is out of the Made Of Gold mare Gold Anthem and hails from the family of Group 1-winning Circles Of Gold and her champion sons Elvstroem and Haradasun.

Haradasun also travelled from Australia to enter training with Aidan O'Brien, and won the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2008.
