Stars to cover strong book of mares in 2013

THE Aga Khan will be supporting his resident stallions with a selection of illustrious broodmares in the coming months.

Sea The Stars, whose first runners are due to hit the racecourse this year, will cover triple Group 1 winner Darjina as well as the dams of Group 1 winners Shareta, Bayrir, Sarafina, Siyouni and Siyouma.

The seven-year-old son of Cape Cross, who landed six consecutive Group 1s for John Oxx and Christopher Tsui, covered 150 mares last year and his first-crop yearlings averaged 247,327gns.

Dalakhani, who was represented by Group 3-winning juvenile Fantastic Moon last year, will cover a sister to Darjina and Group 1 winners Zalaiyka and Daryaba, dam of the Hong Kong Vase winner Daryakana.

Valima, dam of last year's ill-fated Prix de Diane winner Valyra, will visit Azamour, as will Darinska, the dam of Darjina.

Haras de Bonneval resident Sinndar, sire of last year's Yorkshire Oaks winner Shareta, will cover Visinova, who is related to four Group 1 winners, including a sister to Group 1 winner Montmartre.

Sinndar's stable mate Siyouni, whose first yearlings will be on the market this year, will cover a book of mares that includes Fraloga, a Group 1-placed sister to Alpine Rose, a sister to Kalanisi and a close relative to Group 1 winners Ebadiyla, Enzeli and Edabiya.
