Stacelita: another feather in the cap of Gestüt Schlenderhan sire Monsun

Monsun filly takes
Prix de Diane by storm

STACELITA confirmed herself a filly of the highest order when running out the impressive four-length winner of today's Prix de Diane at Chantilly.

She beat the Danehill Dancer filly Tamazirte to make it a one-two for handler Jean-Claude Rouget, who also trains last week's Prix du Jockey-Club winner Le Havre.

The filly joins a long and ever-expanding list of top-class performers by dominant German sire Monsun, which is headed by the multiple Group 1 winners Manduro and Shirocco.

Stacelita was purchased by American owner Martin Schwartz after she turned the Prix Saint-Alary into a procession last month. Schwartz also owns Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Elusive Wave, having purchased her for €660,000 at Arqana last October.

The Prix de Diane winner is the first foal out of the seven-year-old Dashing Blade mare Soignee, who was bred by Georg, Baronvon Ullmann, and finished second in the Group 3 Prix des Reservoirs.

Soignee has a two-year-old filly by Footstepsinthesand who was led out of the Arqana sale ring unsold at €130,000 last August.
