Prominent Florida sire Halo's Image dead

HALO'S Image, sire of millionaire Southern Image, died on Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack while covering a mare at Bridlewood Farm in Florida. The 19-year-old son of Halo was serving this season at a fee of $4,000.

Halo's Image was retired to Bridlewood Farm - his birthplace - in 1998 as the winner of six races including a pair of Grade3 races. He also ran third to Holy Bull in the Grade 1 Florida Derby.

Santa Anita Handicap winner Southern Image and Grade 2 scorer How's Your Halo are the best of Halo's Image's 17 stakes winners. He was Florida's leading sire in 2004 and 2006.

Out of the multiple stakes winner Sugar's Image, Halo's Image was a half-brother to fellow Bridlewood Farm resident Unbridled's Image.
