MAYSON with P Hanagan wins July Cup at Newmarket 14-7-12

Mayson: recently became the seventh Group 1 winner for Invincible Spirit

Southern hemisphere
job for Invincible Spirit

INVINCIBLE Spirit, sire of recent impressive July Cup winner Mayson, will cover to southern hemisphere time at the Irish National Stud this year in an exclusive deal with McKeever Bloodstock.

The 15-year-old son of Green Desert is set to stand for €20,000 (approximately A$24,000) - significantly less than the €60,000 he commanded during the past northern hemisphere season - and will be available to cover from September 1 through to the end of November.

Fees relating to the mare's keep will also be significantly reduced; agistment will be kept to €25 per day and capped at €1,500 should a mare require longer term board.

Invincible Spirit shuttled for four seasons to Chatswood Farm in Victoria, during which time he produced a winners to runners strike-rate of 65 per cent and eight stakes winners including triple Group 1 scorer Yosei.

The sire of seven Group 1 winners in total, this season has been one of his strongest yet thanks to 11 stakes winners. They include July Cup hero Mayson, runaway Gallinule Stakes scorer Speaking Of Which and Moonlight Cloud, who came within inches of denying Black Caviar in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes. He is also the sire of Lawman, himself sire of St. James's Palace Stakes winner Most Improved.
