Son of Ebony Jane off the mark at Ffos Las

TELL Me Y provided the latest chapter to the Ebony Jane story on Saturday when running out the half-length winner of his hurdling debut over two miles at Ffos Las.

The Jonjo O'Neill-trained son of Kris Kin, bred by Kenilworth House Stud and sold for €52,000 to Highflyer Bloodstock at the 2007 Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale, is the final foal out of 1993 Irish Grand National heroine Ebony Jane. His success means that the daughter of Roselier is now the dam of six winners from nine runners, led by Paul Nicholls' high-class chaser The Minack (by King's Theatre), who won a Listed handicap chase at Ascot in December.

That tally could improve on Sunday as the mare's penultimate foal, Ebony Palm (by Great Palm), is set to run in a maiden at Lismore point-to-point.

Ebony Jane defeated Rust Never Sleeps and Zeta's Lad when successful for Francis Flood in the 1993 Irish Grand National, the highlight of seven wins during her 39-race career. Shedied at the age of 25 in January 2010.
