Soave filly wins first French juvenile event

HALLOWEEN Chope, a daughter of Germn Group 3-winning sprinter Soave, captured the first juvenile event of the season in France, a 4 1/2f claimer at Saint-Cloud on Saturday.

The A. de Watrigant-trained filly is from the third crop of her sire, a son of Dashing Blade who stands in France at Haras des Faunes. Soave is the sire of three stakes winners, namely Listed scorers Blue Soave, Calahorra and Nadeaud.

Bred by A. Chopard and L. Boutrou, the filly is the third foal and first winner out of Halloween Star, a multiple winning daughter of Wagon Master.

Nine juveniles contested the event including two, Icosim and Inina, from the first crop of 2008 Arlington Million hero Spirit One. Neither were able to land a blow, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.
