Smarty Jones to relocate for the 2012 season

KENTUCKY DERBY winner Smarty Jones has been relocated for the 2012 US breeding season.

He is among three stallions moving from Ghost Ridge Farms to Pennsylvania division of the Northview Stallion Station.

He will be joined by Jump Start and former shuttler E Dubai, the trio being the three top-ranked Pennsylvania stallions based on 2011 progeny earnings.

They are being relocated to allow Ghost Ridge owner Tarry Bratton to expand his broodmare band at his farm near Felton in Pennsylvania.

Smarty Jones (Elusive Quality) was champion three-year-old colt of 2004 after winning the Derby and Preakness Stakes. He was relocated to Ghost Ridge in 2010 after beginning his career at Three Chimneys Farm and to date as sired eight stakes winners and earners of more than $8 million.

Jump Start, a 12-year-old by A.P. Indy, has sired 24 stakes winners, including 2011 multiple G2 winner Prayer For Relief, and the earners of more than $19.3 million.

E Dubai, a 13-year-old by Mr. Prospector, was relocated to Ghost Ridge in 2009 from Darley and was the leading sire in Pennsylvania in 2010 by earnings and winners. His offspring have earned $18.8 million to date and include 25 stakes winners.
