SLOW PACE (c Distorted Humor - Slow Down by Seattle Slew)

Breeder: Wertheimer et Frere in USA

FOUR days after siring the 320,000gns Tattersalls Craven sale-topper, Distorted Humor was to the fore in Europe again, this time as the sire of Prix de Suresnes winner Slow Pace.

The Wertheimer et Frere homebred, who is trained by Freddy Head, is a gelding and therefore doesn't hold any Classic entries. Nor does the second, War Pact, who carries the same Joseph Allen colours as his leading young sire War Front.

Slow Pace is the 93rd stakes winner by WinStar Farm's Distorted Humor and bred on the same Seattle Slew cross as Kentucky Derby hero Funny Cide, Grade 1 winner Any Given Saturday and Irish Group 2 winner Gaudeamus.

He is the first stakes winner from three runners out of Slow Down, a Listed winner over 1m at Bay Meadows who is a three-parts sister to the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup runner-up and Adena Springs stallion Olmodavor (by A P Indy). The pair are out of Grade 1 Beverly Hill Handicap heroine Corrazona, herself a half-sister to 1990 Belmont Stakes runner-up Thirty Six Red.

Slow Down has a two-year-old colt by Giant's Causeway named Segway and a yearling colt by Arch.
