Slickly maintains grip
on Prix de la Californie
LAST year's leading French-based sire Slickly maintained his hold on the Listed Prix de la Californie at Cagnes-sur-Mer in France on Sunday thanks to Reality, who denied Moustache by half-a-length.
Her victory marked the third occasion in six renewals that a son or daughter of Slickly had won the mile event; in 2007 Gris De Gris landed the race and was followed a year later by Gris Tendre.
Bred and campaigned by Ecurie des Monceaux, the Didier Prod'homme-trained Reality is the ninth stakes winner produced by Grand Prix de Paris and Prix du Moulin hero Slickly. The son of Linamix enojyed success at the highest level last year as the sire of Grand Prix de Paris winner Meandre.
Slickly stands at Haras du Logis in Normandy for €7,000.
