Sky Mesa undergoes further surgery

THREE Chimneys Farm stallion Sky Mesa, who underwent surgery for colic last weekend, had further surgery on Thursday afternoonafter suffering an impaction.

"The impaction was corrected and he has recovered well from the procedure,"  Three Chimneys president Case Clay told the Thoroughbred Times.  "Again, we expect a full recovery.  He was bright and alert this morning in his stall."

He added that he had been advised by vets that Sky Mesa would be able to return to stud duties on March 20, five days later than had been initially estimated. 

Sky Mesa was the leading US second-crop sire last season, and his best runners include Grade 1 performers Sky Diva and Terrain.
