SIYOUMA (4 f Medicean - Sichilla by Danehill)

SIYOUMA was sold to Francois Doumen for €220,000 at last year's Arqana December Sale having won one of just two starts for her breeder, the Aga Khan.

Nearly a year on and that figure looks a bargain considering Siyouma is a dual Group 1 winner for owner Robert Jeffcock this year.

The daughter of Medicean became her sire's third Group 1 winner of the year when successful in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket two weeks ago and added to her haul on Sunday when quickening clear of Pagera and Dream Peace under Gerald Mosse to take the E P Taylor Stakes.

In the process, she became the second North American Grade 1 winner of the year for Cheveley Park Stud's Medicean following Bayrir, who won the Secretariat Stakes in August.

Siyouma boasts a fine Aga Khan - Lagardere pedigree as a half-sister to the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Siyouni. The pair are the only runners so far out of Sichilla, a Listed winner over 7f who is a half-sister to Group 1 scorer and leading French sire Slickly and Grade 2 winner No Slip.

Siyouma is another example of how well Cheveley Park Stud's Medicean works with Danehill-line mares; other notable runners bred on the cross include Nannina, Sapphire, Regional Counsel and Mince.
