First winner for Group
2 scorer Silent Times

CHAMPAGNE Stakes winner Silent Times was represented by his first winner on Monday when Silence Is Bliss scored at the second time of asking at Redcar.

The Stan Moore-owned and trained gelding was always prominent under 7lb claimer Ryan Powell and stayed on to defeat Roodee Queen by a length and a half.

Bred by Mrs E. Thompson in Ireland, Silence Is Bliss was unsold at €1,000 at last year's Goresbridge September Sale.  He is the fourth foal out of Primrose And Rose, a winning sprinter by Primo Dominie, and a half-brother to a minor winner.

Silent Times was trained by Eoghan O'Neill to dead-heat with Close To You for first place in the Group 2 Champagne Stakes at Doncaster. He also ran third to Horatio Nelson in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes.

The son of Danehill Dancer, who is out of a sister to last season's leading US first season sire Offlee Wild and from the family of Dynaformer, stood his first season at Loughtown Stud in Ireland for €4,000 after selling to Chevington Stud for 220,000gns at the Tattersalls Autumn Sale. He was later transferred to Chevington Stud.
