Arabesque assumes
star role at York

JUST over an hour after Showcasing had taken theGimcrack Stakes, his half-brother, Camacho, was represented by his first stakes winner as a sire when Star Rover bagged the Roses Stakes.

The duo's success marked a notable double for the Zafonic mare Arabesque. A Juddmonte homebred, Arabesque landed the Listed Flying Fillies' Stakes during her racing days with Henry Cecil, and has since bred three winners from six foals.

The first of those was the Danehill colt Camacho, who won the Listed Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock before embarking on a stud career at Morristown Lattin Stud in Ireland. The seven-year-old has been represented by five British and Irish first-crop winners to date headed by Star Rover, who was bred by Yeomanstown Stud out of the Brocklesby Stakes heroine Charlene Lacy.

Showcasing marks Arabesque's second liasion with Oasis Dream following the Listed-placed Bouvardia, who failed to emulate her dam when second in the Flying Fillies' Stakes earlier this month.

Arabesque, who is a daughter of 1993 Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Prophecy and therefore a half-sister to Group 2 winner Modern Look, has a yearling colt by Galileo and filly foal sister to Showcasing.
