Lope De Vega has first mare scanned in foal

BALLYLINCH Stud new recruit Lope De Vega has had his first mare scanned in foal.

The mare is Melatonina, aKing Charlemagne half-sister to Prix Eugene Adam winner and sire Look Honey. She is from the family of Grade 1 scorers A Phenomenon, Changeintheweather, Into Mischief, Marsh Side, Pleasant Stage and Seattle Meteor.

Lope De Vega was among the best of his generation in France at two, winning two races and finishing fourth to Siyouni in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere.

At three he emulated his sire, Shamardal, by pulling off a Classic double in the Poule d’Essaides Poulains and Prix du Jockey Club.

His first book of mares this season include his breeder Gestüt Ammerland’s Hold On, dam of Hurricane Run, and brilliant racemare Borgia. Also stakes-winners Les Fazzani, Missit and Sevenna.

Lope De Vega’s fee at Ballylinch is €15,000.
