Shadwell pair to stand in Brazil after purchase

SHADWELL Farm homebreds Elmustanser, a full brother to late 1999 Dubai World Cup winner Almutawakel, and United Arab Emirates stakes-placed winner Mutasallil, will stand in Brazil for the current 2009 southern hemisphere season.

The pair were recently purchased by Dalva and Stefan Friborg's Haras Estrela Energia in Brazil.

An eight-year-old British-bred son of Machiavellian, Elmustanser is out of the stakes winning Green Desert mare Elfaslah, a half sister to Italian Derby winner and European highweight White Muzzle.

Elmustanser's full siblings also include Muwakleh, runner-up in the 1,000 Guineas eight years ago and winner of the United Arab Emirates 1,000 Guineas that same year.

Campaigned by owner-breeder Hamdan Al Maktoum, Elmustanser won or placed in ten of 23 career starts, including a second in the 2005 Maktoum Challenge Round III at Nad al Sheba and third in the same race the following year to eventual Dubai World Cup hero Electrocutionist.

Mutasallil, a Kentucky-bred nine-year-old son of Gone West out of the Riverman multiple stakes-placed winning mare Min Alhawa, won or placed in 14 of 32 starts lifetime, including a second in the 2006 Shadwell Farm Jebel Ali Stakes at Jebel Ali.
