Final nominations for Nayef in demand

FOLLOWING a high level of interest from breeders in the exciting second season sire Nayef, Shadwell Estate decided to offer the last five available nominations to the stallion on, an online auction site developed by Anne and Charlie Oakshott.

By the auction's conclusion on Tuesday afternoon, the nominations had sold for £25,500, £29,000, £27,500 (twice) and £28,000 - all significantly above the stallion's 2009 fee of £15,000.

"The horse was heavily oversubscribed," said Anne Oakshott. "Rather than say a definite ‘no' to over 350 mare owners, Shadwell allowed their valued clients to go online at and bid above the advertised fee of £15,000.

"This is definitely the way forward for oversubscribed stallions."

Oakshott hopes to add more stallion nomination auctions to the site in the near future.
