Sedgefield: debut win for £5,000 gelding

SEDGEFIELD Bumper winner Turbolinas was just a £5,000 purchase for trainer Kate Walton at last year's DBS Spring Store sale.

The four-year-old is from the first crop of Malinas, a son of Lomitas who won twice in Germany including at Group 2 level, and was Group 1-placed four times including second in the German Derby.

Malinas's damsire is the influentual German stallion Konigsstuhl. Turbolinas is his sire's first British winner at the third attempt.  His 2010 fee was €2,000.

Turbolinas is the first foal of his dam, L'Orchidee, by Gunboat Diplomacy. L'Orchidee raced nine times on the Flat in France, winning twice over 1m4f and 1m5f.
