Ling Tsui named Irish Field breeder of the year

LING Tsui, breeder of Sea The Stars, has been named as the Irish Field breeder of the year, sponsored by Connolly's Red Mills, one of Ireland's most prestigious thoroughbred breeding awards.

The Hong Kong-based breeder, whose son Christopher is the registered owner of this year's triple Group 1 winner, defeated 11 other nominees including Peter McCutcheon, breeder of Kingsgate Native, and Joan Browne, breeder of Paco Boy.

John Clarke, chief executive of the Irish National Stud, accepted the award on behalf of Tsui. He said: "Mrs Tsui would want me to say that Ireland has the best land and the best personnel for breeding racehorses."

Out of the 1993 Arc heroine Urban Sea, who died earlier this year, Sea The Stars is a half-brother to six stakes winners including the 2001 Derby hero Galileo.

The son of Cape Cross is likely to make his next appearance for trainer John Oxx in next Tuesday's Juddmonte International.
