Schiller filly heads solid day at MM Adelaide Sale

A FILLY by Breeders Cup Mile winner Artie Schiller topped the second session of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville in Australia on Wednesday.

The filly was presented by Wentworth based Sullivans Run and was secured by Oakbank based trainer Bill Smart for A$61,000 (£40,622/€48,883).

Smart, a regular buyer at the Adelaide Yearling Sale, outbid Jeremy Rogers, stable foreman for leading Ballarat trainer Darren Weir.

The filly is a half-sister to the promising Singapore galloper High Tick and is from a winning Woodman half-sister to triple stakes winner El Maze.

Over A$1.34 million was traded on 126 lots at an average of A$10,651 (£7,092/€8,538) and clearance rate of 74 per cent.

"It was a solid day's selling," Magic Millions Adelaide Manager Chris Russell reported.

"It's pleasing to see the South Australian buyers so strong over the past two days with their spend higher this year than in 2011."

"It was the same case for our international buyers with strong interest from Singapore, Macau, New Zealand, Malaysia as well as China."
