Schiaparelli: the son of Monsun stands at Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire

  PICTURE: Mark Cranham

Schiaparelli's first foal related to Sublimity

FIVE-TIME Group 1 winner Schiaparelli has been represented by his first foal as a sire.

The new arrival is a bay colt out of the Montjeu mare Eightdaysaweek, who is owned by Richard and Lizzie Kelvin Hughes.

Eightdaysaweek won two races on the Flat for Sylvester Kirk and is out of a half-sister to the dam of Champion Hurdle hero Sublimity.

Schiaparelli began his career in his native Germany, where he won the Deutsches Derby, Deutschland-Preis and Preis von Europa.

He was sold to Godolphin, for whom he landed the Goodwood Cup, Prix Kergorlay and Gran Premio del Jockey Club.

The Monsun brother to fellow German Classic winners Samum and Salve Regina stands at Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire at a fee of £2,000.

He covered 75 mares in his first book last year.
