Exceed And Excel's Wilander retired to stud

WILANDER, a Group 2-winning son of Darley shuttler Exceed And Excel, has been added to the roster of Lindsay Park Stud in South Australia.

The four-year-old was purchased as a yearling by John Ferguson at the Inglis Easter sale for A$625,000.

Trained by Lee Freedman, he won four of his ten starts including the Group 2 SchillaciStakes at three.

Wilander is out of the Snippets mare Scandinavia, making him a half-brother to Australian Group 1 winner and King's Stand Stakes third Magnus.

Wilander's first-season fee has been set at A$8,800 (£5,300, €6,060).

Exceed And Excel, whose first northern hemisphere-bred crop are four-year-olds this year, stands at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket at a fee of £12,000.
