Dr Fong sire of Italian Group 1 winner Aoife

DR FONG recorded a third top-level winner as a sire when his daughter Aoife Alainn took the Premio Lydia Tesio at Capannelle in Rome on Sunday.

The three-year-old filly, bred in Ireland by Scuderia Estero, is a sister to Adorabile Fong, a Listed winner and third in the Italian 2,000 Guineas. Their dam, Divine Secret, by Hernando, was unraced, and is out of a half-sister to top-class sprinter Sayf El Arab.

Aoife Alainn passed throught the Goffs sales ring twice, for €65,000 at the November Foal sale and for €46,000 as a yearling at the Orby sale.

Dr Fong, winner of the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and brother to the ill-fated sire Lucky Story, stood this year at Haras Du Thenney in Normandy at a fee of €5,000.
