Musselburgh: Quick double for Sadler's sons

SOME less than familiar names cropped up in the sires of the first two winners on Musselburgh's Sunday card.

The first race, the 2m4f Scottish Racing Novices' Hurdle, was won by Wyse Hill Teabags, by Theatrical Charmer. A dual 1m2f winner at three including the Listed Newmarket Stakes, Theatrical Charmer has sired a handful of winners under both codes.

A son of Sadler's Wells, he was owned by Maktoum Al Maktoum and is a brother to another lesser known sire in Mohaajir, best known assire of high-class staying chaser Gone To Lunch.

Wyse Hill Teabags was bred by Gail and Stuart Smales and was sold for just 500gns as a foal at Doncaster.

The second race was won by the Howard Johnson-trained Santa's Son, by Basanta. Another son of Sadler's Wells, Basanta is a brother to Sholokhov, who has earned distinction as a Flat stallion in Germany.

From few chances, Basanta has produced Archie Boy, who was third in the Grade 1 John Smith's Maghull Novices' Chase at last year's Grand National meeting.
