Freshmen steal early march at Saint-Cloud

A TRIO of first-season sires get a chance of an early winner in the first two-year-old race in Britain, Ireland or France of 2011, the Prix de la Marche at Saint-Cloud today.

The race, a claimer over 4½f, has attracted 20 participants. It is scheduled to be off at 1.20pm GMT.

The freshmen sires represented are: Sandwaki, a Wertheimer Brothers-bred son of Dixieland Band who stands at the Haras de la Huderie and will have the Walter Deladande-trained Singapore You run for him today.

Also Kavafi, who left one French crop before being exported out of the country. His son Kaval Noir is set to run at Saint-Cloud.

Finally, Haras du Saz resident Early March, a son of Dansili who finished second in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere, will have his first runner with the Eoghan O'Neill-trained colt Easy Dancer.

Defying convention, Montjeu's Derby-winning son Motivator has his first juvenile runner of 2011 in the 4½f race.

His daughter Executive Dolly, a Chrystelle Cardenne-trained filly from the family of Spanish Moon, makes her debut.

More expectedly, Indian Rocket, an established source of precocious speed in France, has three entries in the race.
