Bold Silvano out of the
frame on his return

Report: UAE, Thursday

Meydan: Firebreak Stakes (Group 3) 1m, Tapeta, (northern hemisphere 4yo & southern hemisphere 3yo)

BOLD SILVANO could manageonly fifth on his return from injury as Sandagiyr came out on top to give Godolphin a fourth win from the first four thoroughbred races on the Meydan card.

The Mike de Kock-trained five-year-old was warm order to get back to winning ways having not been seen since winning on this card 12 months ago but he proved to be bitterly disappointing.

Having been settled in sixth position by Christophe Soumillon throughout the first half of the race, Bold Silvano was scrubbed along racing down the side of the track and found very little, passing justa solitary rival in the straight.

Bold Silvano did take a slight knock which pushed him to the right in the closing stages but he did not come off as bad as others in the scrimmaging in the race towards the line which saw Sandagiyr, under Silvestre de Sousa, edge out Tamaathul by a neck with African Story a further short head behind. The winner was a third on the card for Saeed Bin Suroor and a second for De Sousa.

Bold Silvano had been as short as 6-1 for the Dubai World Cup prior to this outing but bookmakers were unimpressed by what they saw and he can now bebacked at 12-1.
