Silvano: the son of Lomitas stands at Gestuet Faehrhof in north Germany

Silvano busiest sire in Germany last year

SILVANO, sire of Group 1 performers Mi Emma and Proudinsky, was the busiest stallion in Germany last year, according to figures released by the country's national racing association the Direktorium.

The Gestüt Fährhof resident, who last year returned to Germany having not shuttled back from Maine Chance Farm in South Africa since 2005, covered 82 mares.

The next busiest was Samum, sire of Group 1 winners Baila Me and Kamsin, who served a book of 64, ahead of Sholokhov (63), recently deceased Big Shuffle (57) and Desert Prince (57).

Germany's star stallion Monsun, whose progeny includesworld champion Manduro, Shirocco and Stacelita, covered 53 mares.
