Getaway to stand under Coolmore jumps banner

DUAL Group 1 winner Getaway has been retired and will stand under the Coolmore jumps banner in Ireland next season. A fee for the seven-year-old son of Monsun and his exact location will be announced within due course.

The Coolmore jumps stallions are split between Castlehyde Stud, the Beeches and Grange Stud.

A high-class and tough middle-distance performer, Getaway won nine of 22 starts in the colours of Baron G. Von Ullmann including two of last season's flagship German events for trainer Jens Hirschberger; the Group 1 Deutschland-Preis and Group 1 Grosser Mercedes-Benz Preis von Baden.

A stint with Andre Fabre also saw him win three Group 2 races, led by the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket, in which he beat Sixties Icon by three-and-three-quarter lengths.

He was also second in this year's Group 1 Gran Premio di Milano and fourth behind Dylan Thomas in the 2007 Arc.

By the same sire as leading young German stallion Samum, Getaway is a brother to Oaks d'Italia winner Guadelupe and half-brother to Listed winner Guadalajara. They are out of Guernica, an Unfuwain half-sister to Ascot Gold Cup winner Royal Rebel from the family of Alexander Goldrun.
