Baila Me: her sister Be Fabulous won today's Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp

Be Fabulous another
Group 1 winner for German breeding

GERMAN bloodlines have been gaining all the plaudits this summer and another Group 1 success went to a horse hailing from Germanic origins with Be Fabulous's victory in today's Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp.

A four-year-old filly trained by Godolphin, she is by Samum (Monsun) and is a sister to the Preis von Europa (G1) winner Baila Me, one of Samum's three previous Group 1 winners.

Her dam Bandeira (Law Society) is also dam of Bailamos, a dual Listed winner and Group 2-placed son of Lomitas.

Bandeira is a half-sister to the Prix Maurice de Nieuil (G2) winner Bussoni and the Group 2 placed Baleni

Samum, the champion sire in Germany in 2008,  is from a fine German family himself being a brother to Salve Regina, winner of the Preis der Diana (G1), and to Schiaparelli, a 12-time winner, whose wins included five victories at the highest level.

Samum's two other winners at the highest level are Kamsin, winner of the Deutsches Derby, and Durban Thunder, who won this year's Grosser Dallmayr Bayerisches Zuchtrennen.

Be Fabulous was bought by Blandford Bloodstock for €250,000 at the Baden-Baden September Sale from breeder Gestüt Karlshof.

It was a great success all round for Karlshof - the farm also bred and stands the Deutsches Derby (G1) winner Samum.
