THE first foals by multiple Group 1 winner Raven's Pass have hit the ground in recent days.

Raven's Pass' first reported foal, a bay filly out of the winning Danehill Mare Pure Illusion, was born at Woodpark Stud in County Meath on January 12.  Kildangan Stud director Jimmy Hyland described the filly - a granddaughter of Princess Margaret Stakes heroine Saintly Speech - as "a strong-bodied filly with good depth and substance."

Two days later at Derrinstown Stud, Eswarah's Listed-placed half-sister Ghaidaa produced a bay colt, who was described by Jimmy Lenehan as "a nice bay and a good size for a first foal."

Raven's Pass will stand the 2010 season at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for €30,000.

Trickledown Stud welcomed the first foal by July Cup winner Sakhee's Secret early last week, a chestnut filly from the family of Acclamation.

Paul Thorman of Trickledown Stud described the filly as "good, strong and attractive even though she is a couple of weeks early."

The youngster is the second foal out of Fabine, a Danehill Dancer half-sister to three winners including Prix Robert Papin winner Never A Doubt.

Sakhee's Secret stands at Whitsbury Manor Stud for £5,500.

Recent weeks have also seen Papal Bull represented by a group of first foals in colts out of Catspraddle and Fernlawn Hope, and a filly out of Humble Fifteen.

In Kentucky, the first foal dual US Horse of the Year Curlin was born on Tuesday at Burleson Farms in Midway.

The bay filly is out of the Hawkster mare Zophie and a half-sister to 2006 Grade 1 Spinaway Stakes heroine Appealing Zophie.

Multiple Grade 1 winner Curlin stands at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky for $60,000.
