SADLER'S WELLS sired his 73rd individual Group 1 winner on Friday when Ask held on in a three-way finish to win the Coronation Cup at Epsom.

The colt, who was bred by Side Hill Stud and is owned by the Duke of Devonshire, was registering a first success at the highest level. His best result previously in a Group1 was when second in the 2008 running of the Woodbine International.

His dam, Request, who has a two-year-old by Dr Fong and a yearling by Motivator, is a daughter of The Queen's Highbrow, runner-up in the Ribbesdale Stakes, and is a half-sister to Jockey Club Stakes winner Blueprint (Generous), and the Listed winner Fairygodmother (Fairy King).
