Breeders' Cup Mile third Whatsthescript retired

WHATSTHESCRIPT, who ran third to Goldikova in last year's Breeders' Cup Mile, will enter stud next season at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds in California. He will stand for $4,000.

The son of Royal Applause was initially campaigned in his native Ireland by David Wachman, who trained him to win a Roscommon maiden and run third to Teofilo in the Listed Tyros Stakes.

Sold to race in the US, Whatsthescript went on to add three Graded stakes wins to his record including the Grade 2 American Handicap at Hollywood Park and Grade 2 Del Mar Mile Handicap. As well running placed in the 2008 Breeders' Cup Mile, he was also a half-length second to Monzante in that's year's Grade 1 Eddie Read Handicap. He retires with earnings of $907,964.

Whatsthescript is out of the winning Lion Cavern mare Grizel, a half-sister to the high-class two-year-old Queen Of Poland. He will stand alongside Kafwain, Minister's Wild Cat and Old Topper at TommyTown.
