Rock Of Gibraltar's
fine year continues

ROCK Of Gibraltar has maintained a strong presence throughout the year so far, most notably when pulling off a Royal Ascot stakes double courtesy of Society Rock and Samitar.

And the son of Danehill was on the mark again on Monday at Deauville when the Richard Hannon-trained Rockinante held on to take the Listed Prix Francois Boutin. The Acclamation colts Vaniloquio and Lidari filled second and third.

Rockinante's victory brings Rock Of Gibraltar's overall stakes tally to 62, 14 of whom have won this year.

The multiple Group 1 winner stood the 2011 season at Coolmore for €17,500.

Bred in France by Azienda Agricola II Tiglio, Rockinante is the second foal and first winner out of Nantes, a German-bred winning daughter of Night Shift. Nantes is a half-sister to four minor winners and from the family of Italian 1m4f Group 2 winner War Of Declaration.

Rockinante was a €90,000 purchase by Amanda Skiffington at last year's Arqana August Sale.
