Rip Van Winkle foal makes €52k at Arqana

A FOAL from the first crop of Rip Van Winkle was one of the first high profile lots of the day at Arqana's Breeding Stock Sale on Sunday when making €52,000.

Bought by Irish-based Premier Consignment to pinhook, the May born colt is out of Listed winning Key Royal mare Japan from the family of Dubai’s Touch and Grantley Adams, both victorious at the same level.

“They really wanted a horse by this sire,” representative Pauline Marterer said of the Haras du Cadran offering, before adding, “He will stay in France for the premiums and be re-sold next year.”
