OBE for former TBA chairman Morgan-Jones

RHYDIAN MORGAN-JONES has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year Honours List, for his services to the horseracing industry.

He served as chairman of the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association until 1997, and was later installed as chairman of the British Horseracing Board Industry Committee. He was a BHB director during the storm surrounding the infamous Panorama investigation into corruption in horseracing in 2002.

Owner of Newmarket bloodstock agency Olympic Bloodstock, Morgan-Jones has also worked as an advisor to Khalid Abdullah. He revealed the immense talent of the Juddmonte matriarch Modena after breeding her first foal, the subsequent Eclipse and Irish Champion Stakes winner Elmaamul, when leasing mares from the stud. After reverting to Juddmonte ownership, Modena bred Oaks heroine Reams Of Verse and Listed winners Modesta and Novellara.

Morgan-Jones was a member of the working group which convened to hammer out the new bloodstock code of practice which takes effect from tomorrow.
