Red Clubs: has five runners in Britain and Ireland today


First-crop hopes in eight juvenile maidens

A BUMPER day of juvenile maidens provides several opportunities for first-crop winners.

Lanwades Stud resident Sir Percy's second top-priced yearling, the 78,000gns buy Cavaleiro, bids to break his duck on his second start for trainer Marcus Tregoning.

The first foal of the Alhaarth mare Khibraat, Cavaleiro was bought by Oliver St Lawrence at Tattersalls October Book 2. He was third in his debut at Salisbury. Sir Percy has sired two winners this season.

Red Clubs has the busiest day of the first-season sires with five runners. These include The Blue Banana, a likely favourite in the 6.20 at Chepstow. The Brian Meehan-trained gelding was a £20,000 yearling at the DBS Premier Yearling sale and was second on his latest start at Doncaster.

Red Clubs sired two winners yesterday, which brought his total of individual winners in Britain and Ireland to 12.

Moss Vale and Three Valleys were among the winners yesterday and both are represented again today, while Milk It Mick and US-based Street Sense bid for their first British or Irish winners. Notnowcato, who recently sired his first winner, bids for a second with Tohugo and Festival Spirit at Down Royal and York this evening.

Excellent Art, Amadeus Wolf, Baltic King and leading first-season sire Dark Angel also have runners.

There are eight two-year-old maiden races in total today in Britainand Ireland.
