Recharge set to continue stallion career in France

GROUP 1 performer Recharge is leaving Shade Oak Stud after spending his first two seasons at the Shropshire stud, to continue his stallion career in France.

The six-year-old son of Cape Cross will stand at the Earl Rosetgri Stud in Normandy.

Shade Oak Stud owner Peter Hockenhull said: "Recharge is producing very nice, forward foals who should suit the French jumps scene.

"We are very anxious to help him as much as we can, and it is difficult with him to compete with the demand for Black Sam Bellamy and Fair Mix here at Shade Oak, as they are very popular due to the exploits of their sons The Giant Bolster and Simonsig."

Recharge was trained by Kevin Prendergast for owner-breeder Lady O'Reilly to win three races, including the Group 3 Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial.

He also finished second in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, a race that his dam Rebelline won.
